What is Shake?
Shake is a contact exchange app platform which lets people exchange and manage their basic profile and contact details with one another easily, for both business and personal use.
Why use Shake for doing business?
The continued use of printed business cards at first meeting is seriously outdated in this age when practically everything else is digital. Having to manually type in the details of clients, partners, etc into your digital contact list or CRM is highly unproductive. Lose a card before doing that? Even worse. And returning from a long day of meeting many people and trying to remember whose card is who’s? Impossible.
Shake makes exchanging and saving digital business cards easy. Your new contact’s details are automatically saved into your Shake app account and you will also have references with which to remember who’s who. Simply, Shake not only efficiently records and manages your contacts, thereby increasing productivity, it also makes them more useful to you.
“Why not just connect on LinkedIn?”
LinkedIn is great for promoting yourself personally as a business professional, but it’s not really a place for continuing business discussions. Most LinkedIn users don’t even have their company email or phone number listed on their profile.
Why use Shake for personal situations?
You meet someone casually at a party, in a café or on a flight. You strike up a really interesting conversation. Then you bid each other goodbye. What are the chances that you exchanged contact details though? Evidence shows that the likelihood is low. Why? Likely because you don't want to appear to be reaching out too much. We’re not talking about a dating prospect. It could be anyone. And whether you plan to further contact this new friend or not, if you do swap details, at least you’ll have the opportunity to do so. Don't exchange? Well, good luck if you want to catch up again.
Shake makes the exchange easy. “Let’s Shake!”. It's as easy as that. Simply, Shake lets you exchange details casually.
“I could just give them my Facebook…”. Yeah you could. But why didn't you? Maybe for someone you’ve just met, you don't really want them to see how many friends you have, what you did last weekend or what you ‘Like’. Shake however, is a personal social profile that features only your basic information, and whatever details you choose to share. Connect with all the privacy and control you want.

How does Shake work?
Why do I have to upload a profile photo?
So that people can recognize you. It’s clearly to your benefit.
Why does Shake need to access my location?
When you want to send your card to someone you’re meeting in person, Shake needs your location in order to list other Shake users nearby.
What if I want to meet someone remotely?
It’s just as easy to meet and exchange online. Simply do a search by name or company. Shake also sends you regular suggestions based on the information you provided to us.
Can I Shake with others who are not on Shake?
Yes you can. You can send non-Shake users a simplified card of your choosing via SMS or email. Simplified cards do not include all of the content of a Shake card.
Can I save a printed card I received in my Shake contacts? Is that what the ‘Scan’ function does?
Yes. For any printed cards you’ve received, you can scan them and the details will be saved as a business card in your contacts list similar to a card received from a Shake user.
I scanned a printed card but some of the contact details are missing…
That's because some scans may not be 100% perfect depending on how clear the printed information is. You should if check and edit the correct information when this applies.
My contact changed their number or email
No problem. Shake updates all users’ details automatically so you’ll have their new details instantly.
What are Notes and Tasks for?
Many times, it’s just hard to remember how you met someone, your impression of them at the time and what you spoke about. Now you can quickly and simply save a note about your interaction in our ‘Notes’ function. Then, you can set a ‘Task’ as to when you want to contact them next.
My company already uses an existing CRM for recording Notes and Tasks.
Good to hear. Shake is integrated with many of the leading CRMs so that the information/data on Shake can be easily exported to your CRM.
Why are there 3 tiers for each card?
This allows you to customize what information you want to share with each new contact. Some people you want to share minimal details with and others, more. Tiers allow you to do that easily.
What is the ‘Sharing’ function for in my ‘Settings’?
If you select ‘Allow’, then your contacts can request to share your card with others. But you will still be notified each time and have the choice to allow or deny your card being shared, therefore giving you full control over who receives your card. If however you want more privacy, you’re welcome to not allow sharing requests.
And what is the ‘Visibility’ function?
This function is another privacy setting and gives you the choice for your name to be visible to everyone anywhere, or only to those who are near where you are. What this means is that if you select ‘Nearby’, only those nearby your current location who are likely the people you’re meeting, can see your name and request to send you their card. If however you select ‘Everywhere’ then anybody anywhere can search for your cards.
If others can see my card, will they be able to see my contact details?
No. The only way someone can see your contact details is if you send them your card.
How does Shake charge?
Shake charges 1 credit for every card you send, unless we invite you to send your card on us. Each credit is 5 cents (US Dollars).
For business cards, you’ll have 10 credits to get you started and then you can pay later. If your company has given you access to their company account, then they will be paying for the credits you use.
For personal cards, you can send one card per day free, using the Daily Free Personal Card Credit (DFPCC) we give to you on a daily basis. The DFPCC expires if not used that day and cannot be accumulated.
If you want to send more than 1 card free per day, no problem, you can use the next day’s DFPCC until you’ve used all of your DFPCCs for the next 10 days. Once you have, you can either wait 10 days until you start receiving DFPCCs again, or go to the app store to buy card credits.
When would Shake invite me to send my card for free?
Firstly, if Shake invites to you to send a card to someone in your phone’s contact list, you can send 1 card of your choosing to them for free.
Secondly, if you’ve sent your simplified card via Shake to a non-Shake user, after they too join Shake, you can send 1 Shake card of your choosing to them for free.
Why am I being asked to introduce my company to Shake?
Because we want everyone in your company to enjoy the benefits of Shake the way you have. Plus, once your company signs up, you don't have to pay for your cards yourself anymore. If you make an introduction to your company, you will have free usage of Shake for a period of 30 days or until your company signs up. So please do make the introduction.
I’m using my company’s account. Why can I only top up a certain amount each time?
Your company administrator has predetermined how many credits you can top up each time. If you want your limit increased, please speak to your administrator.
I see there are reward points. How do I earn these?
When you send your simplified card to a non-Shake user, if they subsequently sign up to Shake, we’ll reward you with 1 reward point. From time to time, we will have promotional periods where you’ll earn more than 1 point for each new sign up. In the case where more than one Shake user sent their simplified card to a non-Shake user who then signs up, reward points will only be awarded to the last sender.
What can I use my rewards points for?
You have the choice to redeem various available rewards valued at USD$5 with every 50 rewards points you have.
I’m changing jobs. What happens now?
Once you leave your current job, your old company card will be removed automatically. Simply add your new card once you start at your new company. In the meantime, please continue using your personal cards.
Data security is a concern these days. How safe is my contact data?
